Chris Matyszczyk is an award-winning creative director, columnist, speaker, interviewer, wine ambassador and a few other things that might emerge in time.

Chris was born in England and worked as an executive creative director for ad agencies in London, Singapore, Warsaw, San Francisco and New York. He was involved with some of the biggest — and smallest— brands in the world.

His campaign against domestic abuse in Poland became world-famous, as it was the first time the issue had ever been raised publicly in the country.

He has a gold Clio in his cellar.

Most recently, he was the creative director of revolutionary embedded insurance compay Polly, working with TBWA/Chiat Day LA to launch the brand, having helped change the name from DealerPolicy.

Through no fault of his own, he became a tech columnist. Some suggest he’s one of the most read columnists in the world.

Technically Incorrect was a long-standing fixture on CNET and is now on sister site ZDNet.

Chris also created the top Inc.com column Absurdly Driven.

As well as appearing as a speaker and interviewer, he advises clients on all sorts of creative and communication issues via his company Howard Raucous LLC.

He sometimes sits on company advisory boards. Minds.ai, for example. (Well, they let him name the company.)

Somehow, Mediapost decided that he’s the Most Influential Person on Madison Avenue.

He’s also been named the Most Influential Content Marketer in the US.

He also wrote one of the 20 Most Read Posts on the Web Since 2009. (It was one about engineers and idiots, naturally.)

Oh, and he’s also a Wine Ambassador for the Honig Winery in Napa.

Writing and Speaking. Not Necessarily In That Order.

Chris’s writing has appeared, among other places, in the Financial Times, Singapore’s New Paper, the Sacramento Bee, the European and the Scotsman.

When asked to stop writing and speak, he’s appeared on the BBC’s World Service, NPR, WABC-NY and many other channels.

He’s been a guest on podcasts, once even discussing behavioral science. Or trying to.

He has also been a guest host on a radio show in the Bay Area. A radio show about sports.

One of his public speaking engagements — in which he was both MC and interviewer — was described by Gawker as “hilarious.”

He still isn’t sure how much to brag and whether websites should be written in the first person or the third.

Living and Breathing.

Chris assumes website visitors want a few personal details. So here goes.

He was educated at the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics. Well, he went to both.

His name is pronounced Ma-ty-sh-ch-yk. Some people don’t bother and just call him Chris Majestic. He doesn’t mind.

He’s scored against Argentina in Buenos Aires. At field hockey.

He’s caddied for a tour professional in a significant golf tournament. (The professional came second.)

He speaks English and Polish and can occasionally be understood in French and Spanish.

He believes Portugal is the sanest, most wonderful country in the world.

He’s married to a scientist and they spend a lot of time laughing in Sausalito, California.

You would, too, if you saw the sorts of people who live there.
